Victorian Royal Commission into Family Violence: Summary and recommendations

In response to a number of family violence related deaths in Victoria, The Commission was asked to make practical recommendations to achieve the following outcomes: prevention, early intervention, support, perpetrator accountability, systematic response, community and government response, evaluation and measurement of the success of strategies, frameworks, policies, programs and services introduced to put a stop family violence.

A High Price to Pay: The Economic Case for Preventing Violence Against Women

This report demonstrates that the cost of violence against  women to society remains high and is increasing. At the same  time, there are significant potential cost savings and other  economic and social benefits to be gained from primary  prevention strategies that improve equality in relationships  and society.

Victorian public health and wellbeing plan 2011-2015

The plan identifies the public health priorities for the Victorian Government. Preventative health is key to the plan, and health protection and promotion are also listed as ways to improve the health and wellbeing of all Victorians.

Victorian health priorities framework 2012-2022 : rural and regional health plan

Status – CURRENT

The Rural and Regional Health Plan was released in December 2011. It describes the application of the Victorian Health Priorities Framework 2012-2022 to the specific context of regional and rural Victoria. It acknowledges the particular issues and challenges that impact on the health of rural and regional Victorians. The plan should be considered in the context of the Metropolitan health plan.

Victorian health priorities framework 2012-2022 : metropolitan health plan

Status – CURRENT

The Metropolitan Plan was released in May 2011. It outlines the state-wide planning principles for the Victorian health system. The plan applies the seven reform priorities of the Framework to the context of metropolitan Victoria. The plan should be considered in the context of the Rural and regional health plan.

The 10 point plan for Victorian women’s health 2010-2014

Status – NOT CURRENT

The Plan reiterates the call for a whole of Victorian government strategy and action plan for improving women’s health. It aims to build on current and emerging state and national women’s health policies. The plan recommends points for Victorian government action with an emphasis on measurable, transparent outcomes. Priority areas for action are: women in a changing society; sexual and reproductive health; prevention of violence against women; mental wellbeing and social connectedness. The Plan is endorsed by more than 80 organisations.
